“Learning can only happen when a child is interested. If he’s not interested, it’s like throwing marshmallows at his head and calling it eating.” ~ Katrina Gutleben.

About Me

Hi, thanks for stopping by.

My name is Marcia Horrall. I was born in Brazil and have Bachelor's degree in Psychology. The field of education is my passion since I was a teenager. This love for children drew me to teaching jobs where I spent  more than 35 years working with children of all ages.
After my graduation I opened a very successful Dance Studio in Sao Paulo Brazil where I taught Ballet, Modern and Tap Dance and Modeling for 10 years. After moving to U.S.A. in 1989 I started working with adults and children with Autism. I chose to finish paid-work when my husband and I decided to adopt my 3 children from Brazil, but I continued using my skills teaching preschool at home to them. As soon  my children were old enough to start school full time, I've decided that I could go back to teaching and stay close to them at the same time by working at their school as a Teacher's Aide, Librarian, and Substitute Teacher. In the year 2000 I started working full time again at a school for Autistic children as a Behavior Therapist.  In pursuing my career as a teacher, I've acquired useful skills and experience to innovate teaching by implement a curriculum  inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, Montessori, and Project-based School.
I love traveling and learning about other cultures as well.
